Is it necessary to have my own website?

I am a bit confused regarding this issue because some guru say you don't need a website, they will give you one free. You just need to promote it and you will get your share of the profit while another set says you need your own website...so what's the real solution?

It is not necessary to have your own website, or webpage in order to be successful online. However if you don't, you are basically helping to build someone else's business when it could have been yours.

As a newbie I know that putting together a website is totally out of my reach just now. I would have an idea of what to say, but really unsure as to how to put it together and design it.

It is not completely out of your reach. There are more than one ways of getting a website. You could buy one or you could use a free website builder like Kompozer.

You mentioned using Kompozer, where can I get it and how does it work? Is it really technical? I don't have any web design experience.

You can do a google search and then you download it on your computer, it's a small file so it shouldn't take up much space. It's really easy to use, it's like a word document.

Affiliate marketing does not rely on a website necessarily.

You can actually have your own free site if you needed - it'd probably be better.
But to market your affiliate program, or market another affiliate program, you can use ClickBank or Google AdWords and you'll still be in the green.

Many people do it without any website. They simply make landing pages and drive traffic to it through PPC or SEO or SMM or any other method which suits them

Well having a landing page is considered having a web page. Having a web page is considered having a website.

Most people that don't have a site use PPC marketing for affiliate marketing.
