Default What's a landing page?

Just what it says, it's the first page you land on when you visit a website. As such the contents and appearance has to be enough to grab your attention for you to decide to view anymore of it. That's the reason, a landing page has to be written in such a way that it grabs the attention of the visitor and make them want more.

Is there a specific way that landing pages mucst be constructed in order to make them bring in good results? I have seen quite a few landing pages with X number of bonuses. But those don't normally convince me to buy.

From what I have read so far, a good landing page has to be tested over and over again to see what is the best combination of design, content and whatever else makes up the page.

from what I have heard as a designer it depends on a male or a female... sometimes it can be more curves and a very busy page for a man and for a women a more clear and cut design. So yeah I would have to sort of agree testing over and again is best.

Hi Jenne, are you saying that the way a landing page is designed it can have more impact on a male than a female reader?

For me to actually buy something from an internet marketer, it has to come across as a genuine offer, that is not just to make money for the seller but will also benefit me as well.

A landing page is a single page or advertisement that a visitor goes to after clicking on an ad or text link.

Typically the landing page is supposed to convince the visitor and/or lead them to purchase.

It has to be appealing and informative at the same time, obviously, so you really have to make the landing page optimized and targeted to your content and/or product/service that you are offering.

If I was going to give any advice for landing pages, I would say "don't make it cheesy or over the top". I hate gimmicky stuff and you're not getting me any further if you don't communicate what I'm here for.

Also, if you don't put a price up front, I'll be ticked if it doesn't correlate to how much I would believe an offer is worth. I've read through countless landing pages that promote some service and then right at the bottom after the marketing pitch it says "only for $30!" ... whoa, what? Pffffff. I might have taken it if it was ten bucks.

KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid. Nice images, and informational. Keep the "call to action" above the fold. Meaning put the CLICK HERE button visible when the page loads.
