Default Information overload

I think every newbie who goes online in a quest to make money has information overload at some point. Sometimes more than once. The thing is, you just got to be focused. When I started out, I subscribe to every list, I accepted all the freebies. Some of which I haven't even read. But then I have learnt a few things, so I am going back through the info now to actually choose what makes sense.

I agree, Kizzy. In the past I've bookmarked sites with what I thought was important information at the time that I never returned to.

I find a good forum (like this) very helpful because the newbie questions tend to be about things that I'm in a good place to learn from, and the more advanced threads are there too, waiting for me to catch up.

You should take some time and go through them and basically file them or delete those you are sure you no longer need the info. Forums like these are indeed a great way to start affiliate marketing.

Where researching on the internet trying to find the thing that you do best, it is best to have goal in mind. So when certain opportunities come along you take them, and you are better able to close your ears to every big launch.

Karl makes a good point about having a goal. At least with a goal you know what to search for and exactly what you need to know. Otherwise there are so many options open that you do get confused and aren't sure what the best thing is for you.

There comes a fine line when having the necessary amount of information about a topic and then too much.

Often times you'll find yourself researching and reading too much on a subject before actually going out and pursuing or making success out of the topic, and that goes very well with affiliate marketing.

Instead of reading why not try promoting using your time, ie generating backlinks etc.

I think my biggest problem has been not an overload of information, but a lack of understanding of some of the terms and an inability to find an explanation anywere!

GreenMoo, I agree ... there are so many technical terms and acronyms involved with affiliate marketing that sometimes it's really difficult to understand what a certain programme is offering. What would be great would be a layman's guide!

The lack of true information confuses a lot of people. Like "UberAffiliate" saying once you get it, you've got it". How is that a tip? Most affiliates that make money, and engage in public communication will not reveal anything useful unless they are getting paid for it. I think that is the hardest part, all the vague sites on making money online. Another problem is people are just expecting to understand it, without doing anything. Before I started using Adwords, I had no idea of what was going on. But once I got into it, and started using it, the whole thing came together. Don't be scared because you have to put money out there, if you do it right, you should be able to cover the costs. I started my first campaign on adwords at $100 a month. that is $3.33 a day. So my ad would run a be over before I could blink. At least I learned from it, and was able to make changes accordingly. You just have to do it and not to expect to be spoon fed.
