Default PPC versus PPM - what is your experience?

I was just wondering: do you favor PPC or PPM, and why?

Depends upon the purpose of advertising ? Leads / Sales or just brand building ?

Sorry for being vague - I was talking about ad formats on your site as a publisher not an advertiser. Earning money instead of spending money in this case.

It's my understanding CPC pays more if you get the right ads, but CPM is better if you have a lot of views without a lot of clicks or high-level advertisers that will generate clicks for you ( i.e. CPM is better for a flash games site or a videos site where lots and lots of people come to see your stuff).

You really need a lot of traffic to benifit from either on a web site. Like using adsense will generate you pennies a day unless you get 100k visitors. Or selling a product, you have a to have a fanbase that will listen to you. If you get under 1,000 visitors a day, then making money off your site probably doesn't happen.
