Backlinks - helps pagerank?

Yes, creating backlinks is a great way to get a better pagerank. I went from 0-4 in 1 month by creating 500 backlinks in my spare time.

0-4, thats an achievement alright but if you had higher PR backlinks you could have easily got a PR5!

Of course, it does help. SEO experts says one strong high PR quality link is better than 100 low PR website.The most important part of any website is its content. Without informative content users will quickly exit web site and may not come back.

Once you have some good content on your site you will need to get some incoming links. Email other webmasters preferably who have got good PR and ask if they would be willing to exchange links. The more links your have coming to you from related sites the higher your page rank will be.
